1. What is World Creator?
World Creator is a standalone application for Windows (soon for Mac also) that lets you create terrains and complex landscape scenes up to entire worlds as seen in modern games, movies, and VFX / CGI productions. World Creator also lets you create stunning photo-real renders for any kind of art, or just for prototyping reasons. It even may be used for real-world street planning, simulating rain fall and water mass, along with garden design and more.
2. What does real-time mean?
This means that everything you do in World Creator happens instantly. For example, when you move a slider, change values, add materials, filters, and more, the terrain adjusts instantly.
3. Why is the GPU the most important part of my PC when it comes to using World Creator?
World Creator performs all its tasks entirely on the GPU. That is why World Creator is so extremely fast and capable of doing everything in real time. The more powerful your GPU, the faster World Creator will do its job for you.
4. What are the minimum system requirements?
The minimum requirements for a Windows PC are:
- Windows 7 (64 bit)
- 4th Generation Intel Core i5 or equivalent AMD processor
- NVIDIA 1080 GTX with 4 GB VRAM or equivalent AMD GPU
- 8 GB System RAM
- 1 GB disk space
5. What are the recommended system specifications?
The recommended system specs for a Windows PC are:
- Windows 8.1 (64 bit)
- 6th Generation Intel Core i7 or equivalent AMD processor
- NVIDIA 2080 GTX with 8 GB VRAM or equivalent AMD GPU
- 16 GB System RAM
- 4 GB disk space
6. Can I get updates regularly and for how long do I get updates?
Perpetual licenses include a 12-month maintenance plan that covers all updates and upgrades for the first year after purchase. After that, you must keep the maintenance plan subscription active to receive additional updates and upgrades. Rental licenses cover all updates and upgrades during the rental period.
7. Where do I ask for support?
If you do not own World Creator yet, you may either write your request to support@bitethebytes.com or use our support widget on our website. The widget has the advantage that you may quickly search for a solution for your request without having to wait for an answer by our support team. Beside that, you may also join us on Discord for cummunity support.
If you already own World Creator, then please sign in to the customer portal, navigate to Support Request and fill out the form. Customers have a higher priority in receiving answers from our support team.
Please be aware, that our support team are human beings, just like you. Be kind and respectful - haters and trolls are not welcome (in such a case we will simply not answer and assist you).
8. Is an internet connection required when using World Creator?
An internet connection is only required when activating World Creator for the first time. After activation, World Creator downloads a license file that you can use for offline usage. That license file will be valid for a couple of days. Once expired, World Creator requires an active internet connection again to validate the license.
For environments where an off-line workflow is required for a longer period of time, please contact support@bitethebytes.com. We will provide a specific license file to you. However, this option is available for companies only.
9. Is World Creator compatible to game engines such as Unity and Unreal?
Yes, it is. Terrains are represented by 2D grey-scale images, so called height-maps. These can be exported by World Creator and imported into other applications, such as game engines (e.g. Unity, Unreal, Cry-Engine, Lumberyard, Godot, Flax, and more). The same approach also works for texturing / coloring and even for objects and details - World Creator let's you export everything required, to fully recreate the entire terrain in other applications.
For that we have developed the Bridge Tools which help you, to quickly transfer the World Creator terrain over to other applications. You can download it in the customer portal. Just login through our website, go to Bridge Tools and choose for what application you would like to download the Bridge Tool for.
10. Is World Creator compatible to applications such as Cinema4D, Vue, Octane, Clarisse, and more?
Yes, it is. Terrains are represented by 2D grey-scale images, so called height-maps. These can be exported by World Creator and imported into other applications, such as Cinema4D, Vue, Octane, Clarisse, Terragen, Substance, Houdini, 3DS Max, Maya, Photoshop and more. The same approach also works for texturing / coloring and even for objects and details - World Creator let's you export everything required, to fully recreate the entire terrain in another applications or game.
11. On how many workstations may I install and use World Creator?
Each seat covers two workstations (e.g. @home and @work). Beside that, each seat is a floating license, which means, you can re-assign users at any time.
12. We are a company. Can we manage all our employee seats / licenses within a single World Creator account?
Yes, you can. You can assign users, reset assignments, cancel maintenance and subscription plans, view assigned licences and invoices, report bugs and submit feature requests, download World Creator and assets. Your employees can log in with their seat credentials to download World Creator and assets, but they cannot view invoices or manage licences and seat assignments.
13. Can we get offline licenses as a company?
Yes, you can. Please contact our support team.
