In World Creator you can create any terrain size you want, there are no limitations at all.
Terrain Features
The terrain features of World Creator a truly impressive. World Creator lets you create terrains with an unlimited size and detail, from small scaled areas up to planetary scaled landscapes. Filters and modifiers let you erode the terrain, apply sediments, transform it into a canyon, a desert, a mountain range, a terraced landscape, a crater, a volcano, and so much more.
In World Creator, the detail of a terrain is set by a precision parameter. The default setting is 1 metre, but you can increase the precision down to centimetres, regardless of the size of your terrain. This gives you the ability to create ultra-detailed terrains in unprecedented quality.
Any Filter can be drawn directly on the terrain using brushes and powerful editing tools. That way you can choose which regions should be eroded, have terraces, or add crumbles and apply sand at any location. The terrain adapts automatically, non-destructive, and in real-time.
World Creator's erosion system has evolved to an extremely efficient, powerful and ultra-realistic system. Erosion is calculated based on different particle simulations to mimic fluid and thermal erosion.
Show me all Erosion FiltersSediment filters will let you apply sand, crumbles, and other sort of sediment on top of the terrain. World Creator therefore has very powerful sediment systems included that are based on physic simulations.
Show me all Sediment FiltersWorld Creator supports many different terrace like terrain structures. You may create sharp and edgy terraces or terraces with smooth edges. You can define the terrace amount and the way they should behave when eroded.
Show me all Terrace FiltersWith 7 Arid filters in total. World Creator will serve you to create arid like terrain structures that look dry, rocky, have crumbles and sand. These will help you to create amazing canyons, salty deserts, rocky surfaces and more.
Show me all Arid FiltersWith overall 11 built-in noise filters, World Creator lets you create any kind of terrain structure you need. Following Noise types are available: Billow, Gabor, Perlin, Phasor, Ridged, Simplex, Value, Voronoi, Wave, and White.
Show me all Noise FiltersEffect filters are used to additionally perform artistic modifications on the terrain surface and structure. For example, you might want to create blocks, craters, distort or denoise the terrain. There are 14 effect filters in total available.

With World Creator, you can create terrains procedurally or by design. You can also combine both workflows to create exactly the terrain you need. Powerful tools give you tons of design options such as brush-based sculpting, grid-based sculpting, vector path and shape creation, 2D and 3D color terrain stamping, real-world data streaming, and a small but powerful built-in procedural subgenerator for quickly creating terrain structures such as volcanoes, canyons, islands, and more.
World Creator allows you to easily create a terrain from scratch, as well as customising existing terrains with built-in sculpting tools. One of these is Brushed Based Sculpting, which behaves exactly like a painting tool like Photoshop, but for terrains.
One of the more diverse sculpting tools is Grid Based Sculpting, which is perfect for very quick creations and adjustments. You select cells in a grid using a brush, and then you can modify those cells and their neighbours.
World Creator lets you create simple rivers, roads, mountain ranges, canyons and more with our unique vector-based and distance-field-based path tools, giving you even more creative freedom.
The shape tool allows you to create any type of polygon shape and use it to design your terrain. For example, you might want to create a lake in the mountains, a mountain range or a giant hole in the terrain.
Create any type of river - procedurally or by design. You can either let World Creator generate the river for you, based on the terrain you see in the viewport, and then modify it by hand, or you can create your own river by placing springs and flow points.
World Creator allows you to import custom elevation and colour maps as stamps to create and extend your existing terrains. You can import DEM data or terrains from other applications and assemble a new landscape within World Creator in real time.
We have added procedural stamps such as volcanoes, islands, fissures and more, saving you a lot of time creating these specific terrain features. Think of it as a tiny terrain generator within World Creator.
World Creator is a great tool that lets you import 3D models to be used as 3D stamps. You can think of importing 3D rocks, tree stumps, or anything else, and then stamp it on the terrain as-is. It even takes care of albedo maps of the given 3D model, which is really handy!
Register with MapTiler and connect to their real world data service through World Creator to import the locations of your choice. With World Creator, using real world data for your productions is no longer a challenge (you must register with MapTiler to use the service).
Masking Features
Our flexible and highly accurate masking features allow you to mask terrain structure-related masks in real time and apply filters, colors, textures, Adobe Substance materials, biomes, and more. Again, World Creator allows you to do this not only procedurally, but also completely by design using painting tools. Unlimited freedom, in real time.
Terrain Condition Masking lets you mask the terrain based on the terrain surface. For example, the image you see takes the rocky parts to create a mask. World Creator ships with 33 terrain condition mask operations called distributions.
Show me all Terrain Condition MasksMask effects can be applied to terrain condition masks to further modify the result. For example, the image you see takes the rocky parts to create the mask and further applies a fast flow effect to create flows based on the rocky mask. There are 20 mask effects available.
Show me all Mask EffectsWorld Creator is also great for direct mask painting! This is really handy if you want to mask specific locations manually to apply filters, materials, biomes, and more using a brush combined with powerful drawing tools. You may also import your own brushes to be utilized for drawing.
Layer Masks take a specific design layer, such as the Polygon Layer, Path Layer, Rivers Layer, all Stamp Layers, Sculpt Layers and Procedural Layers to create the mask. For example, the image shows a star created with the Polygon Layer which is then used to create the mask.
Simulation Masks are created by all simulations that are applied on the terrain. For terrain shown, a Sand Simulation was added and masked by a Simulation Mask. This applies for all available simulations in World Creator.
Simulation Features
The World Creators simulation system is absolutely amazing as it simulates sand, water and snow based on real physics. It not only adds them to the terrain, but also takes care of movement and anything else you can think of - just like in real life.
Creating a Simulation Layer and choosing the type of simulation, such as sand, is all it takes to get started. With the option to use brushes or procedural techniques, you can easily drop an adjustable amount of sand on the terrain and watch it distribute.
The fluid simulation is an incredibly versatile tool that can be used to fill rivers, lakes, and seas with water, as well as create lava and other types of fluid interactions. By defining specific locations for fluid spawning (as shown in the image), World Creator takes care of the rest.
With World Creator, you can confidently simulate snow on top of your terrain! The workflow is just as easy as the sand simulation (see above), but the outcome is uniquely different based on your simulation settings. You can even define specific regions where you want snow to appear.
Coloring Features
World Creator has an incredibly compelling material system! You can define colors, gradients, sat-maps, textures, and Adobe Substance materials to color every single terrain feature. Whether you want simple colors to quickly tint your terrain, or textures and Adobe Substance materials to make it look fantastic, or gradients and sat-maps to take the coloring process to the highest possible level, World Creator has got you covered. With its real-time rendering, you can create outstanding landscapes that will leave you in awe!
Use simple colours to colour the terrain. The best and quickest approach for initial material setup and masking.
A very powerful coloring system capable of creating realistic colors in seconds. Gradients can be applied to blended terrain masks along with many different effects to create stunning results that will blow your socks off.
Add textures and Adobe Substance materials to your terrain for even more detail. In World Creator, you can swap existing materials without re-masking.
